I have known Alexis since I was about 18 months old and she was 7 – in fact, our families have lived next door to each other for almost two decades! So when she asked me to photograph her wedding, I couldn’t have been more excited. It was also a bittersweet reminder that we and all the rest of the neighborhood kids really are growing up. The same girl who tricked me and her younger sister that a green vehicle called the “pickle bus” would come to pick up kids when the regular school bus broke down was actually getting married! We aren’t little kids anymore – and that alone made it a surreal day in some ways.
Alexis and Patrick decided to get married where they currently reside in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. They chose a gorgeous country club on the sound for the ceremony and reception, and while it rained throughout the morning, it ended up clearing up just before the wedding was about to start and we had some perfect lighting for portraits! Doesn’t get much better than that.
