Meet Leah
Lover of people, their stories, laughing so hard I can’t breathe, & adventure.
Hello, my name is Leah! I’m a wedding and portrait photographer who is southwest Virginia born and raised, one of the proudest Hokie alums you will ever meet, and now a happy resident of thriving Nashville, Tennessee. I love to write, Instagram photos of my cats, eat Chipotle for every meal, get coffee with old friends and make new ones!
I have enough Virginia Tech t-shirts to create an entire wardrobe, I drink craft beer and red wine (and coffee), and I truly do think that Disney World is the happiest place on earth. I believe in being real and genuine, and I always say that when you’re feeling extra blessed, you should tell the people who made you feel that way.
I don’t have a favorite season but if I absolutely had to choose, fall would be at the top of the list. I used to hate change but now I embrace it with wide open arms and a “bring it on.” I believe that the most powerful form of communication is a handwritten letter. I thoroughly enjoy having fun, as evidenced by my bachelorette party planning business, Hootenanni Party Co. And lastly, I’ve said my whole life that I never really knew what I wanted to be when I grew up, but I know I always want to be happy. I still may not be “grown up,” but I know for a fact I am incredibly happy – and for that I am eternally grateful.
I’d love to get to know you too! Send me an email here.
My story…
I first embarked on this journey when I was just 18 years old, and photographed my first wedding at 20. Not even graduated from college yet, I was honored and surprised someone trusted me to illustrate the story of one of the biggest and best days of their lives – but they did, and what a journey it has been! Since then, I’ve lugged a 5 pound camera around my neck for countless hours and worn through numerous pairs of black Toms, but I’m still just as thrilled and excited that I get to do this job now as I was at that very first wedding. It has been a wonderful ride holding bouquets, straightening dress trains, laughing with the groomsmen, stuffing my face with wedding cake, and of course, taking lots of pictures. Here’s to many more years of celebrating and capturing love!
